Hiring a foreign worker made easy!!!

What is a work permit?
A work permit is a written authorization issued by an officer that allows a person who is neither a citizen nor a permanent resident to work in Canada. It is required whether or not the employer is in Canada. Usually, it is valid only for a specific employer, job and length of time, and is issued based on a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Service Canada.

What is a Labour Market Impact Assessment?
A LMIA is the report provided by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to the CIC or CBSA officer which enables the officer to determine whether the employment of the foreign worker is likely to have a positive or negative impact on the labour market in Canada. A LMIA may be required in order for a work permit to be issued.
The LMIA process begins by the prospective employer contacting ESDC to get an LMIA application form. Once the form is completed and submitted, ESDC considers several factors, including the availability of Canadians and the offered wages as well as the economic benefit the foreign worker would bring to Canada. ESDC then provides the opinion to the officer.
The LMIA is typically given for a specific period of time, and the work permit issued will coincide with that period. Renewal of a work permit beyond the specified period will likely require a new LMIA. Find out more about the LMIA.

The Labour Market Impact Assessment LMIA (former Labour Market Opinion (LMO)) is a report issued by Employment and Social Development Canada that outlines the impact that hiring a foreign worker would have on Canada's labour market. Employers need to obtain this assessment in order to hire foreign workers. If the assessment is positive, a report outlining the conditions of the job being offered by the employer, the names of the employees, and also the expiry date of the LMIA will be listed in the document issued by ESDC.

Once a positive LMIA has been issued, it must be forwarded to the employees abroad to enable them to obtain a visa and/or a work permit that will allow them entry to the country with the rights and obligations of any other worker. If the worker is already in Canada, a work permit renewal application must be submitted. Immigration Pros can also handle the processing of the work permit and visas for the workers abroad or the work permit extensions inside Canada.

Recent changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program have made it more difficult for employers to obtain a positive LMIA. We strongly recommend hiring the services of an expert. We have successfully processed hundreds of applications. We have a specialized team that only deals with Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA). We will gladly provide you with a free assessment of your particular case and tell you the possible routes to which you can obtain a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment.  Please contact us and we will gladly provide you with a free quote for your particular case.

Foreign Recruitment Services

The most important factor in recruiting is choosing the right people. Through our global associate network, World Talent Staffing Services can offer your business an extensive selection of qualified candidates. All World Talent candidates are pre-screened, tested and motivated to work for Canadian businesses. World Talent will recruit the best workers for your business, whether inside or outside of Canada.

Most businesses do not have the time or desire to be specialists in foreign recruiting. World Talent Staffing Services specializes in this field, and will manage the process from start to finish with minimal effort on your part.

Immigration Consultants VS Employment Agencies

  • Immigration Consultants assist foreign workers to obtain visas and work permits for Canada. (i.e. the Immigration Consultant works for the employee.)
  • Employment Agencies assist employers to recruit the best workers. (i.e. the Employment Agency works for the employer.)

Foreign workers often retain immigration consulting firms to find work in Canada. They motivate the firm to find them a job - any job. If they do, a work permits and visa application are required; and if the worker stays in Canada, an expensive permanent residency application may result.

World Talent Staffing Services is a licensed Employment Agency, and our only client is you the employer. We use immigration consultants as required, but our recruiting is done with the best interest of the employers in mind. We have no obligation to any worker, and receive no benefit by recommending one candidate over another.

Advantages of foreign workers

Our foreign workers offer employers many advantages:

  • Quality. Many nations offer large and well trained labour forces to choose from. This allows our global network to choose exceptional candidates from a large pool of qualified workers.
  • Productivity. Our foreign workers come here to do a job! Most do not have family or social distractions in Canada, which makes for a reliable work force.
  • Stability. Offshore workers must work for the employer named on their work permit. Reduced staff turnover saves employers money, and creates a workforce that can be relied upon.
  • Flexibility. Our candidates are chosen for their flexibility in the workplace. Since they are already away from home, working in remote locations isn't the problem it is for resident Canadians.
